SCA Goal Statement
“Of the Thousand and One Goals”
I give my body to you. I have my presence to testify that I hear the call to respond. I see you there, and I will move myself to offer healing and supplement with all my life energies knowing they will often be dismissed. I will pursue my work with my heart and inspiration. I will look for you when I forget myself. I will feel your pain and hold it in reverence as though it were mine own, asking forgiveness for never feeling enough. I will work for you/me. I seek a voice. Visions that encounter representations of the other: I will receive your gift as best as my full power will allow. Laugher will be my refuge and peace my offering. The sheer practice of self-determination I will refine as I read, write, and speak. I will expect failure over and over again, but I will hope for the surprise that enters in the experience of finishing well. I demand of myself strength in the subtle sense, of a kind that prevails among the strongest type. This is: holding with care the memories of the oppressed and down trodden: prophecy the messiah always-to-come. This is: giving priority to critical capacity building where emancipation is the practice of intervention. Goals are sought in the disperse right of silenced voices. Action is a goal: Action on behalf of a new cultural alliance between planet and people; between racisms of inherited curse; on behalf of our leaders whose knowledges must be deconstructed and informed. The goal is to change a world – my goal. My goal is to forge a revolution that refuses domination and exploitation and demands democracy-to-come, freedom-to-come, and justice-to-come.
“Into all abysses I still carry the blessings of my saying Yes.”
